While creating your own page for the business is really important, members of the company will also need a LinkedIn page to be moulded in the image of the business and to create more interest. This is a way to help generate more traffic towards the company.

A professional image

When you are creating the member of the company’s page, the first thing you are going to do is look at the profile picture. The photo needs to be appropriate with the identity of the company and the type of image that as an employee you want to put out, especially if you have an important role in the business. So from that, you need to choose whether it is important to be in a suit or to be wearing something more casual, maybe more in the image of a startup. 

The  « About » section on LinkedIn is an opportunity for you to tell your story, experiences and give an insight into how you work and what your motivations are. In this section, you can write a few small paragraphs but you need to avoid making your text too long. On this page, you also want to list your experiences and specify where you worked, for what period and the roles that you had. 

This is important because however you may feel about past experiences, it shows your career path, the difficulties you have gone through and you came through them with good outcomes. Also recommendations and people approving your skills will be displayed on your page and will help you to improve your image and to get potential clients or connections to trust you and your skills easily. 

The link between the employee and the business

One of the reasons you want an employee to have his or her own page is to create a connection between the business and the person. The background picture can be an opportunity to show straight away the name of the company. It’s also important to show the company that you work for under your profile picture, as well as the exact job title you have in that company.

The « About » section is also an opportunity to mention the business, the job you do for that business and the way you do your work. In the long term, you can create more traffic for your company by posting content linked to the business. For example, posting articles or pages from the company’s website in the “Featured” or “Activity” sections will keep that link with the business and your connections will often see the activity of the business you work.
